PEOPLE reports exclusively that Vice President Joe Biden will introduce Lady Gaga's performance of her Oscar-nominated song 'Til It Happens to You' from the documentary THE HUNTING GROUND, on Sunday's night's Academy Awards airing on ABC.

An adviser to the VP revealed to the site, "As a longtime advocate against sexual assault and domestic violence and the author of the Violence Against Women Act, the VP will use the opportunity to call on everyone in the audience and watching at home to visit www.ItsOnUs.org to take the pledge to stand up, speak out and help change the culture around sexual assault."

In 1990, Biden authored legislation which would eventually became the Violence Against Women Act.

"The 88th Oscars" will be held on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 7:00 p.m. EST/4:00 p.m. PST.
