House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) tells CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Scott Pelley it's outrageous that detained immigrants are being released from U.S. detention centers because of budget cuts from the pending sequester. Pelley sat down with Boehner in Washington, D.C for an interview that will be broadcast tonight, Feb. 26 on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH Scott Pelley (6:30-7:00 PM, ET) on CBS. Check out a clip below.

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

PELLEY: The agency that enforces immigration laws in this country confirmed today that it is, at this moment, releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants from U.S. detention centers because it says with the sequestration they can't afford to keep them. Is this what you intended?

BOEHNER: This is very hard for me to believe that they can't find cuts elsewhere in their agency. I frankly think this is outrageous. And I'm looking for more facts, but I can't believe that they can't find the kind of savings they need out of that department short of letting criminals go free.

Patricia Shevlin is the Executive Producer of the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH Scott Pelley.
