Keith Urban surprised the audience on today's "The Ellen Degeneres Show" by making a big "American Idol" announcement. "Well, of course Randy's leaving ... and I'm here to announce today that I'm going to be replacing Randy ... bittersweet, really. I'm going to miss Randy, I gotta say. He's a beautiful part of that whole institution that is 'Idol,'" he revealed. Watch the appearance below!

In a press conference yesterday, a FOX executive said that next season, it's "likely" the "Idol" judges panel will go back to three judges.

Urban also discussed this week's final showdown between Candice Glover and Kree Harrison. "I think Candice has a bit of the edge, just based on her powerhouse vocals of the last few performances," he shared, but added, "But Kree is an amazing singer."

The "American Idol" finals air Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16, on FOX.
