Deadline reports that Tony-nominated actor Pablo Schreiber has signed on to star in an upcoming drama pilot for NBC titled IRONSIDE. The 'Weeds' actor will star opposite Blair Underwood in the reboot of the 1960's police procedural series.

The project, written by Mike Caleo and helmed by Peter Horton, follows "Robert T. Ironside (Underwood), a tough, sexy and acerbic police detective relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting who is hardly limited by his disability as he pushes and prods his hand-picked team to solve the most difficult cases." Schreiber will portray 'Virgil,' described as "one of the toughest, craziest Cops in the city who will do anything to protect citizens, victims and most of all his partners."

The actor is best known for his role as Nick Sobotka on HBO's Baltimore drug-related crime drama The Wire. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his Broadway debut performance in Awake and Sing! Other TV and film credits include The Manchurian Candidate, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, A Gifted Man and Lights Out.
