Tom Hardy to Star in Film Adaptation of Video Game Series SPLINTER CELL

Action star Tom Hardy is reportedly set to star in video game Production Company Ubisoft's film adaption of their hit video game series, Tom Clancy'S SPLINTER CELL. Variety first announced the casting choice earlier this afternoon.

Ubisoft is taking on the project internally for now, in preparation of shopping the film to other studios as pre-production moves forward. Eric Singer (AMERICAN BULLs) is set to pen the film.

CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures Jean-Julien Baronnet said, "Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills. His involvement in theTom Clancy's Splinter Cell movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and ... we're confident he'll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story ... while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans." 

Hardy is best known for his role as 'Bane' in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and has also appeared in INCEPTION - both directed by the acclaimed Christopher Nolan.
