'Big Brother' Posts Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year Increases

This summer's edition of BIG BROTHER continues to outpace last year's edition as last night's live eviction broadcast posted week-to-week and year-to-year increases and was Thursday's top-rated program in key demographics, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Aug. 5.

BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was first in households (4.2/08), viewers (7.02m), adults 25-54 (2.9/09), adults 18-49 (2.4/08) and adults 18-34 (2.1/08). Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was up +5% in households (from 4.0/08), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.8/09), +9% in adults 18-49 (from 2.2/08), +31% in adults 18-34 (from 1.6/07) and added +500,000 viewers (from 6.52m, +8%).

Compared to the same night last year, BIG BROTHER THURSDAY was up +2% in households (from 4.1/08), +4% in both adults 25-54 (from 2.8/09) and adults 18-49 (from 2.3/09), +24% in adults 18-34 (from 1.7/07) and added +560,000 viewers (from 6.46m, +9%).

For the night, CBS was first in households (4.2/08), viewers (6.68m), adults 25-54 (2.2/06) and tied for first in adults 18-49 (1.6/05, with ABC).
