'The Kids Are All Right' Partner to Produce Pizzo's 'The Ernie Cobb Story'

Today, 10th Hole Productions, LLC's principals Neil Katz and Andy Sawyer, announced that they have partnered with Ron Brienes and Bob Gould of Shoot It, LLC to option the film rights to the untold life story of Ernie Cobb. Cobb's remarkable journey through life and basketball has been touchingly penned by Angelo Pizzo, writer of the critically acclaimed films Rudy and Hoosiers. Pizzo states, "Ernie Cobb is not just a great sports story, but a great story. It has the same kind of emotionality and inspirational elements as Rudy and Hoosiers."

The story captures Cobb's fascinating journey beginning with a challenged upbringing and the appearance of an unlikely mentor in Hermy Alswanger, to college basketball fame and then to the un-welcomed notoriety associated with being falsely linked to the Boston College point shaving scandal. Cobb's life takes several twists and turns as he struggles to clear his name; ultimately he travels to Israel to fulfill his dream of playing professional basketball but while there discovers something even greater. Cobb says, "I would love to have my story told and have the ability to go speak to kids and help them get on the right path the way coach Alswanger did for me."

10th Hole Productions is fresh off of the success of the Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning hit The Kids Are All Right and has recently jumped in with Maven Pictures' Imogene (Kristen Wiig, Annette Benning, Darren Criss) and Red Crown Prductions' What Maisie Knew (Alexander Skarsgard, Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan).

Katz and Sawyer are currently in the process of attaching a director to helm the Ernie Cobb project.
