The International Black Film Festival Returns to Nashville

Now in its 12th consecutive year, the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) takes over Nashville, TN on October 5 through October 7.

A full slate of powerful features from influential and award-winning filmmakers throughout the African-American creative community will play throughout the weekend at Watkins College of Art at Belmont University in addition to master classes, panels, discussions, activities, and more. Among a stacked lineup, the premiere of director Steve McQueen's Widows starring Viola Davis kicks off the festivities. Meanwhile, The Hate U Give starring Amanda Stenberg, Regina Hall, Issa Rae, and Common remains another highlight.

Additionally, festival guests and members of the general public are welcome to attend a series of enlightening and engaging panels. Such discussions offer invaluable insight into the industry for budding filmmakers and fans alike.

OCTOBER 5

-10am-11:15am "Generation Next: The Future of the Next Wave of Content Creators" led by Oby Okoye, Tchaiko Omawale and Marquis Smalls.

-11:30am-12:45pm "Teching' It Like It Is: Keeping Up With The Latest Technology in Music, FIlm, VOD, and TV" moderated by Jerome "Knobody" Foster, Craig King, Milk and Sizz and Jabari Ali.

OCTOBER 6

-9am-10:30am "Dollars and $ense: Creating A Top Notch Indie FIlm In A Low Budget" sponsored by SAG Indie and featuring Darrien Gipson and Ruth Paul

-10:45am-12pm "The Big Pay Up: Diversity Equals Dollar $igns in Hollywood" with Richard Van Syckle, Tina Rodriguez, , Ruth Paul,.

-3:15pm-4:15pm "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Art of Negotiating The Best Distribution Deal For Your Project" led by Brett Dismuke, Angela Northington, Tina Rodriguez, and Dr. Wynn.

-4:15pm-5:15pm "Fast Pitch Live" led by Brett Dismuke, Angela Northington, Tina Rodriguez, and Dr. Wynn.

OCTOBER 7

- "Profitability and Popularity of Faith Based Projects" led by Dr. Wynn, Rhonda Sams, M. Legend Brown

Additionally, IBFF engages festival goers and film aficionados of all ages. Saturday October 6, the fest hosts the Imagine Me Children and Youth Program 9am-4pm. It's highlighted by a special live performance from the Animatronics from the Netflix hit Stranger Things, outside vendors, food, and more.
