The Film Arcade Acquires Taylor Schilling's FAMILY

The Film Arcade today announced it has secured the US rights to the hilarious heart-warming comedy, FAMILY, written and directed by Laura Steinel. The film premiered at SXSW 2018 and stars Taylor Schilling ( Netflix's "Orange is the New Black"), Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta"), Jessie Ennis (LIFE OF THE PARTY) and newcomer Bryn Vale. Additional cast includes Matt Walsh (HBO's "Veep"), Allison Tolman ("Fargo") and Eric Edelstein (JURASSIC WORLD). FAMILY is set to be released theatrically by The Film Arcade in Spring 2019.

The deal was negotiated between The Law Offices of Greg S. Bernstein on behalf of The Film Arcade and UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.

FAMILY follows an emotionally-stunted aunt (Schilling) tasked with watching her 12-year-old niece (Vale) who finds her life unfurling when the girl runs away to become a "Juggalo" - a super-fan of the group Insane Clown Posse.

FAMILY was produced by Annapurna's Sue Naegle (upcoming THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS) and Kit Giordano (30 MINUTES OR LESS). Executive producers are Laura Steinel, Dan Kaplow (THE INVITED), Taylor Schilling and Jeremy Garelick (THE BREAK-UP) with casting by Amey René.

"We were immediately drawn to the film as it is not only funny, but centers around the importance of self-confidence and acceptance. We are excited to be working with Laura to help bring her fresh and unique voice to audiences around the country," said The Film Arcade's Jason Beck.

FAMILY is the directorial debut for writer Laura Steinel. She was a staff writer on Amazon's cult-comedy "Red Oaks," which was executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and David Gordon Green, and starred Paul Reiser, Richard Kind, Jennifer Grey and Craig Roberts. Additionally, Steinel sold the comedy script WOMEN IN BUSINESS to Fox, which she is attached to direct with Gloria Sanchez and Chernin Entertainment producing.
