After four seasons on the air, The CW is prepping The Vampire Diaries for a spin-off following the Originals.

Aptly entitled THE ORIGINALS, the series would follow the Original family, specifically Klaus (Joseph Morgan). The potential spin-off will be set up in the April 25 episode, in which Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, and meets up with his former (now evil) mentee Marcel.

Executive Producer Julie Plec, who is also set to write the episode, is also spearheading the potential offshoot of DIARIES. Phoebe Tonkin, who plays Hayley the werewolf, has also reportedly agreed to move to THE ORIGINALS.

Should the network move forward with the project, it's expected it would premiere next fall airing before or after DIARIES.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

What do you guys think - does The Vampire Diaries deserve its own spin-off already?
