The Blackhouse Foundation and Facebook Partner to Bring the SEEN Program to Sundance for the Second Year

The Blackhouse Foundation proudly announces Facebook will serve as a Premier Sponsor of its presence and programming at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival January 25-28 in Park City, UT. This continues a longstanding relationship between the organization and the leading social network.

On Saturday, January 26, Facebook returns with the SEEN Inclusivity in Film Brunch. "Facebook is thrilled to partner with The Blackhouse Foundation for the 2nd year in a row supporting underrepresented voices in film getting their stories seen. Through our partnership this year, we'll host an activation with discussion and tools for filmmakers to build audiences and amplify their voices across Facebook and Instagram. Representation matters - especially in film - and our goal this year is to expand our support to more of the diverse voices and communities in film to help them be seen." - Jen Barrett, Head of Entertainment, Facebook Creative Shop.

On Monday, January 28, Blackhouse co-founder Brickson Diamond hosts the Facebook SEEN "The Future of Storytelling" panel - a roundtable featuring Mikey Alfred (Director, "The Dispute"), Justin Chon (Director/Writer, "Gook"), Deborah Riley Draper (Writer/Director, "Coffee Will Make You Black"), Sherri Daye Scott (Writer/Producer, "Season of the Witches"), Datari Turner (Producer, "A Boy, A Girl, A Dream") - about how they are leveraging digital platforms to build their brand, uncover new audiences, and pave the way for new models of distribution. The panel will be followed by an interactive workshop focused on leveraging Facebook and Instagram's best practices and tools for mobile storytelling to help independent filmmakers get their work seen.

This year's Presenting Sponsor is OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, while BET Networks returns as a Premier Sponsor. Sponsors include: AT&T Dream in Black, CAA,

Color of Change, EOS World Fund, HBO, Paramount Pictures, SAG-AFTRA, Starz, Tanqueray No. Ten, UMC, and more.

Additionally, 2019 marks a historic moment for African-American films at The Sundance Film Festival as the number of African-American entrants increases from 38 in 2018 to 46 in 2019. Recently added titles include Clemency, Native Son, and Always in Season.
