Telemundo to Present 2nd Annual LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS, 10/6

Telemundo announced today that the second annual LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS (Latin AMAs) will broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA, on Thursday, October 6, 2016. The red carpet pre-show "La Alfombra de Latin AMAs" will kick off at 7pm/6c, followed by the extended three-hour show at 8pm/7c, which will feature collaborations by English and Spanish-language music's most talked about artists. The live show is produced by Telemundo and SOMOS Productions. Nominees for the Latin AMAs will be announced on Wednesday, Aug.31.

The Latin AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS pays tribute to today's most influential and iconic Latin artists, as voted by the fans in the traditional format of the "American Music Awards," the world's biggest fan-voted award show. For the second groundbreaking year, the show will feature performances by chart-topping talent in both English and Spanish and will give fans from the U.S. and Puerto Rico the chance to vote on world class artists. The Latin AMAs will honor artists in the genres of Pop/Rock, Regional Mexican, Urban, and Tropical, as well as categories for Favorite Crossover Artist, Favorite Streaming Song, Favorite Collaboration, New Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, among others.

Last year's inaugural broadcast reached an audience of 3.8 million total viewers, according to Nielsen, and ranked as the #1 most socially engaging program for the night on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram across all US Hispanic networks. The music special, hosted by international superstar Lucero, featured top English and Spanish-language musical acts such as Paulina Rubio, Daddy Yankee, Gloria Trevi, Natalie La Rose, Fonseca and Yandel with Lil Jon, Kevin Roldan, De La Guetto, India, Maluma, Yuri, and Sergio George.

Created in 1974 by Dick Clark, the "American Music Awards" is one of the biggest music shows in the world, watched in more than 200 countries. The "2015 American Music Awards" was broadcast LIVE on November 22ndfrom the Microsoft Theatre in L.A. The event was hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who opened the show, and featured 20 performances from today's hottest artists, including 5 Seconds of Summer, Justin Bieber, Luke Bryan featuring Karem Fairchild, Coldplay, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alanis Morissette, One Direction, Pentatonix, Gwen Stefani, The Weeknd, Meghan Trainor, Carrie Underwood and WALK THE MOON.
