TV, Film and Stage Star Lou Myers Passes Away at 77

According to TMZ, "Different World" star Lou Myers passed away last night, February 19, following a heart-related emergency. He was 77.

Myers played 'Mr. Vernon Gaines' in the show "Different World", which ran on NBC in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His other extended TV roles include "My Parents, My Sister & Me" in 2009-10 and "All About the Andersons" in 2003.

Myers appeared on Broadway in 2008's revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, 2005's The Color Purple, 1990's The Piano Lesson, and worked as an understudy for 'Reverend Mosley' in 1975's The First Breeze of Summer. He won an Audelco Award for his performance in off-Broadway's Fat Tuesday and an NAACP Image Award for his portrayal of 'Stool Pigeon' in August Wilson's King Hedley II.

The actor's film credits include Missing Pieces, Cobb, The Piano Lesson, The Passion of Darkly Noon, Tin Cup, Volcano, Goodbye Lover, Bulworth, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Big Confession, The Stand-In, Everything's Jake, All About You, The Wedding Planner, Nobody Knows Anything!, The Fighting Temptations, Team Player, Kings of the Evening, and DREAMS (II), which was released this month, February 2013.
