TRUE BLOOD's Sam Trammell has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of John Green's bestselling novel THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, according to The Wrap.

Josh Boone is set to direct the film, which is being penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, of (500) DAYS OF SUMMER and The Spectacular Now fame.

Woodley will play 'Hazel Grace Lancaster' a young woman who learns she has cancer. In a support group, she falls in love with Gus (Ansel Elgort - Woodley's costar in the upcoming DIVERGENT), and rather than focus on the depressing nature of their diagnoses, they embrace their feelings for one another. The two embark on a vibrant, passionate, and hilarious journey that proves that an entire life's worth of meaning can be found in any stretch of time.

Trammell has signed on to play Woodley's father, while Laura Dern, of Showtime's ENLIGHTENED, will play her mother.

Trammell is best known for his role as 'Sam' on HBO's TRUE BLOOD, and can next be seen opposite Virginia Madsen in CRAZY KIND OF LOVE.
