TNT's exciting new competition series The Hero, starring Dwayne Johnson, got off to a strong start Thursday night, drawing more than 2.1 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery for its 8 p.m. premiere and 10 p.m. encore. In the demos, the premiere and encore garnered more than 1.1 million adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

The Hero's 8 p.m. premiere averaged more than 1.5 million viewers to rank as one of basic cable's Top 10 unscripted series launches so far this year. Among key adult demos, the premiere telecast scored 855,000 adults 18-49, up a remarkable +94% over TNT's year-to-date average for the timeslot (excluding sports). It also garnered 832,000 adults 25-54, outperforming TNT's timeslot average by +45%. With a projected median age of 39, the audience for The Hero's premiere telecast is TNT's youngest ever for an original series launch.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson brings to TNT an Epic competition testing the strength, courage, and integrity of a diverse group of nine individuals. Each week, the contestants will be tested, physically, mentally, and morally, as they try to prove that they truly deserve the title of "The Hero" and the life-changing grand prize that goes with it.

With temptations around every corner, America watches to see what the contestants are willing to overcome, undergo, and sacrifice on behalf of themselves and others. In the end, it's America's call on who will be "The Hero."
