An all-new THEATER TALK features its annual TONY Wrap-Up, with journalists Jesse Green (New York Magazine), Michael Musto (Out.com) and Patrick Pacheco (Los Angeles Times); an AndrewAndrew report from the TONY Red Carpet; and a discussion about Turn Me Loose: A Play About Comic Genius Dick Gregory, now Off-Broadway.

The "Tony Team" agrees that this year's ceremony was a great success, fueled by the energy of its host James Corden. The broadcast provided an appropriate and moving response to the Orlando massacre, as well as additional promotion for Hamilton, which won 11 awards throughout the evening. Also on the program, roving cultural correspondents AndrewAndrew report from the Tony Awards' Red Carpet.

Next up, actor Joe Morton, playwright Gretchen Law, and director John Gould Rubin talk about the remarkable influence and career trajectory of comedian Dick Gregory - a man who started his career earning $17 a week and within a few years was making $17 million annually. Beyond that he became a social activist who ended up devoting himself more to righteous causes than to his meteoric career in entertainment. The critically acclaimed Turn Me Loose, produced by music superstar John Legend as well as a team of New York producers, has extended its run through July 17 at the Westside Theatre.

Co-hosted by Michael Riedel of the New York Post and producer Susan Haskins, this episode premieres Friday, June 17 (2016) at 1:30 AM (Saturday morning) and Sunday 6/19 at 11:30 AM on Thirteen/PBS; repeats on CUNY TV* Saturday 6/18 at 8:30 PM, Sunday 6/19 at 12:30 PM, and Monday 6/20 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM; and also airs on WLIW/21 on Monday 6/20 at 5:30 PM.

THEATER TALK is jointly produced by the not-for-profits Theater Talk Productions and CUNY TV. The program is taped in the Himan Brown TV and Radio Studios at The City University of New York (CUNY) TV in Manhattan, and is distributed to 100+ participating public television stations nationwide. THEATER TALK is made possible in part by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The CUNY TV Foundation, and The Friends of THEATER TALK.
