The case of a missing husband leads detective Sherlock Holmes to Loch Ness in Billy Wilder's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes on August 17, while Steve McQueen finds himself aboard the Yangtze River Patrol gunboat USS San Pablo in Robert Wise's period war film The Sand Pebbles on August 24.

Rounding out the month's Classic selections on August 31 is director Elia Kazan's romantic drama Splendor in the Grass, featuring Warren Beatty in his film debut, alongside Natalie Wood.
Christopher Grissom's Between Notes, Richard J. Lewis' Barney's Version, and Robert Altman's The Company make up August's Indie film picks.

The series is pre-empted on August 3 and 10 for special pledge programming.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Classic hosted by film historian Neal Gabler, followed by an Indie, hosted by Richard Peña. The evening concludes with a Short selected by visitors to Reel13.org who vote for their favorite of three shorts every week.
