Steven Soderbergh to Helm New Series THE KNICK for Cinemax

According to The LA Times, 'Behind the Candelabra's Steven Soderbergh is set to helm 10 episodes of the new CineMax series THE KNICK. The project will star Clive Owen, who will executive produce along with Soderbergh, and writers Jack Amiel and Michael Begler.

Set in New York City's Knickbocker Hospital in New York City at the turn of the century, the series follows the story of the "doctors, nurses and staff who did their best to advance medicine in a time where medical standards were far, far more primitive than they would be just three decades later."

THE KNICK is scheduled to debut on CineMax sometime in 2014.

Soderbergh is best known for directing films such as Out of Sight, Erin Brockovich and Traffic, and the remake of Ocean's Eleven. His film credits also include Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Schizopolis, Bubble,Kafka, The Girlfriend Experience and Che.
