According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shaun Cassidy has signed a two-year overall deal with Universal TV. Under the agreement, Cassidy will create and develop new projects for the studio.

Said Universal TV Executive Vice President Bela Bajaria, "Shaun Cassidy is a talented creator and a skilled showrunner. With his vast experience in the entertainment business, he understands all angles of making a TV show. He is also a strong supervisor to other writers, and we are excited to have a deal with him at Universal TV."

Cassidy most recently served as a consulting producer on CBS' Blue Bloods and developed Western The Frontier for NBC. In the late-1970s, Cassidy was a popular singer and actor. He starred in two television series (The Hardy Boys Mysteries and Breaking Away), had a number of hit records, and did numerous arena tours nationwide.

In the 1980s, he acted on stage on Broadway and in the West End of London. Since the mid-1990s, Cassidy has worked exclusively as a writer/producer in television, creating a number of critically acclaimed television series, including American Gothic, Roar (with Heath Ledger in his American debut), and Invasion.
