Sci-Fi/Noir Series MARISA ROMANOV to Debut on Amazon Prime Video This Fall

Marisa Romanov is the creation of Miranda Spigener-Sapon that will be produced by SPT France and Noirtainment for Amazon Prime Video. The series plans to announce the cast this summer along with start of production in September.

The plot for Marisa Romanov is currently under wraps, but it is a sci-fi/neo-noir series that will film in Los Angeles and in Tbilisi, Georgia. The project was prematurely announced at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival and European Film Market by The Hollywood Reporter for its Europe production team in helping to be the first to secure Georgia's new tax incentives.

"We are quite excited for this project and we think the fans of sci-fi will find it unique with its strong, female protagonist and an inclusive cast," says SPT France Executive Producer, Jean-Michel Vaussier.

Marisa Romanov was inspired from a 9-minute short film that Miranda wrote and directed that went on to be part of the Official Selection of the International Venice Film Festival on September 2001, earning Audience Choice. The film was also screened in an Alternate Selection screening during the 2001 Berlin Film Festival, earning accolades as the Audience Pick. Additionally, a book deal on the prequel has been secured by Winterwolf Press and the feature film rights have been optioned by Vaussier at SPT France. The novel will be written by Miranda Spigener-Sapon along with Ross John Gosla. The series will be Executive Produced by Jean-Michel Vaussier of SPT France, first time Showrunner/Creator Miranda Spigener-Sapon along with Executive Producers Pete Freeland, Nick DeLaRosa and Producer Soraya Tascon from Noirtainment.

Miranda is an award-winning writer who recently directed THE 20 th Anniversary return to stage of her play The Flame at METROPOLIS Caf in Santa Monica. The play in the past received praise by Houston Press and The Village Voice in 1997 during its original run and the special anniversary run in Santa Monica received praise by Broadway World and The Los Angeles Times. As a writer/director, Spigener-Sapon made the documentary Walk On about hippotherapy that aired from 1999-2000 on TLC/Discovery Networks. She has also wrote/directed several other independent projects. Most recently, Miranda directed the documentary feature Masculinity That Inspires Change written by Gunter Swoboda, based on his Good Men Great Movement, that debuts on Prime Video May 18 th. Miranda Spigener-Sapon, a Texas native, lives in Los Angeles with her husband Felipe. Miranda and the project is repped by literary agent Will McPherson/UTA, publicist Jamie Goucher of MS Film PR Literary and attorney David Kim at The Hollywood Lawyer.
