San Diego Chargers Lineman Orlando Franklin Set for Next 'Together We Make Football' on TODAY
By: Caryn Robbins Nov. 19, 2015
Tomorrow's "Together We Make Football" segment on TODAY features the story of San Diego Chargers' guard Orlando Franklin.
The piece details how Franklin turned his life around after being arrested at 15 years old. While in jail, Franklin's mother visited him and asked him to consider what he was doing with his life. Franklin wrote her a letter outlining his plan to become more committed to playing football and his aspiration to play at the college level. After Franklin's mother moved the family to Florida, he stuck to his word, eventually getting a scholarship to play football at the University of Miami and going on to play in the NFL. Today, he runs the Orlando Franklin Foundation, which aims to help underprivileged and at-risk youth. Sunday Night Football, television's No. 1 primetime show, continues this Sunday, Nov. 22, when the Arizona Cardinals (7-2) host the first-place Cincinnati Bengals (8-1) at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, the most-watched studio show in sports.
