A new hammer swinging female hero leads the charge in the upcoming indie TV series project, V FOR VALHALLA: Goddess of Thunder, which recently launched its crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter.com.

Geek culture celebrity actress Robin Thorsen (The Guild) has signed-on to appear in the fantasy-comedy alongside actress Holly Stanford, who created and will produce with her husband Garrett Brown under their Thorsdottir Productions banner.

Rooted in Norse Mythology, V for Valhalla is the story of an Earth-dwelling woman named Ally Thorsdottir (Stanford). Ripped from her home and brought to Asgard, Ally learns her father is the slain Norse God of Thunder, Thor. This makes her the rightful heiress to the throne with all the powers and duties that go along with it. Thankfully, she's got a coven of Valkyrie by her side to guide her through this imperfect heroine's journey to save the universe.

Stanford is thrilled to have Thorsen along for the ride, who steps into the storyline as the 2nd-in-command, first in sass, Valkyrie matriarch, Vanna. "I'm completely thrilled! Robin brings unparalleled comedic timing, experience, and enthusiasm to the team- plus her past work on the The Guild speaks to this through line she's had for working on female-driven content, which is incredible."

Rounding out the cast are several strong and talented women, including Ally Young Price, Sun Park, Harley Bronwyn Kraft, and Valentina Matosian. Also helping to bring the project to life are Director of Photography Lauren Haroutunian (RocketJump/RocketJump Film School: Hulu and YouTube, Netflix's Video Game High School, USA's Psych) and SFX Makeup Artist Jason Henricks recognized from his stint as a contestant on season 9 of SyFy's hit show Face Off.

Through Thorsdottir Productions, Stanford and Brown are interested in telling the extraordinary stories of ordinary people through filmmaking. As a producer and writer, Stanford has a knack for innovation and challenging the status quo. She has directed and supported numerous projects on stage and screen, in addition to working as a cinematographer and photographer. Recently her action comedy film Tug Hill was nominated for 'Best Screenplay' at the 16th annual Beverly Hills Film Festival. Originally from Lowville, New York, Stanford has been acting since childhood, appearing in many film and television projects largely portraying badass women getting into trouble.
