The RED movies (RED stands for Retired Extremely Dangerous operatives) will be adapted for television.

According to Deadline, creators Jon and Erich Hoeber are rewriting their films for an NBC series based on their 2010 and 2013 action comedies.

Inspired by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's DC Comics series of the same name, the original RED movies starred Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren and Karl Urban as REDs on the run from CIA assassins.

The TV series "will retain the core concept of the films but will be set in a more grounded and authentic world, focusing on the characters' darkly hilarious struggles to survive civilian life as they simultaneously fight for and against the very organization that threw them out."

No word yet on whether any of the original cast will return for the series. But with that much star power (and some Broadway names among them), we can only hope!
