Vareity reports that leading European production company ON Entertainment will team with Wild Bunch and Pathe for an $80 million animated feature based on the popular Playmobil brand of toys. On Entertainment heads Dimitri Rassam and Aton Soumache acquired the film rights to the brand.
Rassam revealed to the site that the Playmobil project will reunite the creative team from "The Little Prince." The production will be set up in Montreal. According to the report, Since its creation, Playmobil has sold over 2.7 billion figurines since it was first created. Hans Beck designed the toys which are now sold in over 100 countries nationwide.
