Private Practice may have come to an end, but series star Paul Adelstein isn't leaving Shondaland for good.

According to TV Line, the actor has landed a recurring role on the upcoming third season of ABC's Kerry Washington-led drama SCANDAL.

As with all casting announcements for Shonda Rhimes' series, Adelstein's role is being kept quiet. The report confirms that he'll first appear in an episode slated for late October.

Adelstein isn't the only TV regular headed to SCANDAL - as previously reported, FRIENDS alum Lisa Kudrow has also booked a top-secret role on the impending third season.

From the creator and executive producers of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" comes a drama revolving around the life and work of a professional fixer and her staff. A former media relations consultant to the President of the United States, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) dedicates her life to protecting and defending the public images of our nation's elite. After leaving the White House, the power consultant opened her own firm, hoping to start a new chapter -- both professionally and personally -- but she can't seem to completely cut ties with her past, specifically her secret relationship with the President. But Olivia isn't the only one with a secret; her staff, who specialize in fixing the lives of other people, can't quite fix the ones closest at hand -- their own.

"Scandal" stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Columbus Short as Harrison Wright, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, Jeff Perry as Cyrus, Bellamy Young as First Lady Mellie Grant and Joshua Malina as David Rosen.

Scandal returns to ABC on Thursday, Oct. 3.
