Deadline reports that Roger Ailes, the founder and chairman of FOX News, has died at age 77. Ailes founded Fox News in 1996. His career spanned five decades. Last summer, Ailes was forced to exit the network after several women, including Gretchen Carlson, accused him of sexual harassment.

While announcing the news live on air, Fox News Bill Hemmer commented, "Roger, to you in the heavens we say god bless."

Ailes was a media consultant for Republican presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush, and for Rudy Giuliani's first mayoral campaign. In 2016, he was an adviser to the Donald Trump campaign, where he assisted with debate preparation.
