NBC Sports continues its 27th consecutive season of NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL on NBC this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, as Heisman Trophy contender RB Josh Adams and the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1) host Wake Forest (5-3) at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind.

The Fighting Irish improved to 7-1 last Saturday with a 35-14 win over No. 14 NC State. Notre Dame has won six consecutive games, all by at least 20 points. Through eight games, Notre Dame has beaten three opponents in the current CFP rankings: No. 17 USC (7-2), No. 20 NC State (6-2), and No. 24 Michigan State (6-2). The team's lone defeat of the season was a 20-19 loss to Georgia, currently undefeated and No. 1 in the CFP rankings.

Notre Dame is led by Heisman hopeful Josh Adams, who ran for 202 yards and a touchdown against NC State, including a 77-yarder in the third quarter. Adams ranks fifth nationally with 1,169 rushing yards and first with 5.6 yards per carry after contact, leads the country with seven runs of 60-or-more yards, and has scored a touchdown of at least 70 yards in four consecutive games. Adams led a rushing attack that amassed 318 yards against the Wolfpack's then sixth-ranked run defense on Saturday, while QB Brandon Wimbush accounted for three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).

Defensively, the Fighting Irish have proven to be one of the stingiest units in the country. Notre Dame's defense, led by new defensive coordinator and former Wake Forest assistant Mike Elko, has allowed 16.1 points per game, a mark that ranks 10th in the country. The Fighting Irish remain the only team in the FBS to have held every opponent to 20 points or less.

Wake Forest earned its second conference win of the season and improved to 5-3 following a 42-32 victory against Louisville on Saturday. Demon Deacons QB John Wolford completed 28-of-34 passes for 461 yards and five touchdowns, tying Riley Skinner (2009) for the most touchdowns passes thrown in a single game in program history.

Saturday's game on NBC marks the fourth CONTEST between the two programs and the first since Nov. 14, 2015. The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series, 3-0.

The NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL on NBC commentary team is led by Mike Tirico, alongside Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, who serves as lead analyst for NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL on NBC, and sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen.

Liam McHugh hosts studio coverage of NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL on NBC, alongside former college and NFL quarterback Chris Simms. McHugh and Simms anchor pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage on-site at Notre Dame Stadium this season.
