Nickelodeon invites preschoolers on a wheely big adventure in the brand-new Dora the Explorer Primetime special, "Dora's Great Roller Skate Adventure," premiering on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). In the half-hour special, Dora wants to take Boots to Skate Park, but the mean Big Wheeler has shut down the park. Viewers must help Dora stand up to Big Wheeler so everyone can skate together. The episode addresses bullying and presents a "strength in numbers" message. Emmy award-winning Dora the Explorer continues to be the most watched preschool show on TV drawing 67.5M total viewers and 11.3M preschoolers year to date.
Parents and kids can visit www.nickjr.com, Nickelodeon's award-winning website, to find new skating-themed games and activities including Dora coloring pages, printable puzzles, mazes, crafts and more. On Wednesday, Sept. 11, a brand-new Dora game, "Dora's Roller Skate Adventure," will be available on the site. On Monday, Sept. 16, families can log onto NickJr.com to catch an exclusive sneak peek of the episode. The Dora the Explorer: Dora's Great Roller Skate Adventure DVD featuring the title episode and two additional adventures will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Dora the Explorer, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes and Eric Weiner, is a play-along, animated adventure series starring Dora (Fátima Ptacek), a seven-year-old Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests. She explores her world just as preschoolers do every day, and the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques.Videos
