New NBC/WSJ Poll: Trump Holds Record Low Approval Rating for First 100 Days in Office

Nearly two-thirds of Americans give President Donald Trump poor or middling marks for his first 100 days in office, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released this morning. Forty-five percent believe Trump is off to a poor start, while 19 percent say he is off to a fair start, compared to 35 percent who believe the president's first three months in office were either a good or great start.
Compared to Trump's overall job-approval rating of 40 percent - down four points from February - President Obama's overall rating stood at 61 percent, President Bush's was at 56 percent and President Clinton's was at 52 percent at this same point in time of their presidencies. Trump's handling of foreign policy is approved by 40 percent of Americans, and 44 percent approve of his handling of the economy. Sixty-two percent of Americans support the administration's recent military action in Syria; with 88 percent of Republicans and 43 percent of Democrats when looking at the support by party.
