Variety reports that Netflix CEO Reed Hastings would consider buying additional seasons of the recently revived series Arrested Development if cast members were game to continue on with the comedy.

In an interview with CNBC today, the exec commented that the series is "unique because it's up to the talent" about whether it will return for an extended run. "We had very high expectation from the beginning for 'Arrested Development' because it had a well-known brand, and we were thrilled with the response and it's been huge, just as we hoped," said Hastings.

According to Procera Networks, 36% of all devices connected to Netflix via one unspecified DSL network were tuned into the show on Sunday, streaming at least part of one episode. However despite the initial success, Netflix's stock fell more than 6% on Tuesday, possibly due to the unfavorable critical reaction to the rebooted series.

Arrested Development was created by Mitch Hurwitz and originally ran on FOX 2003-2006 before its unceremonious cancellation, though it has gained in popularity over the years and has become one of the most-viewed entities on all of Netflix.

The satirical series centers around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) and his eccentric family comprised of his son, George Michael (Michael Cera), his father, George Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor), his mother, Lucille (Jessica Walter), his brothers, George Oscar Bluth II (Will Arnett) - aka GOB - and Buster Bluth (Tony Hale), as well as his sister, Lindsay Funke (PORTIA DE ROSSI), Lindsay's husband, Tobias (David Cross), and their daughter, Maeby (Alia Shawkat).
