NBC's THE VOICE Ranks #1 Among All Primetime Big 4 Programs

Led by the #1 show of the week on the Big 4 networks, Monday's "The Voice," NBC has tied for #2 in adults 18-49 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX for the Primetime ratings week of March 24-30, averaging a 1.5 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall for the week, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC has now ranked #1, tied for #1, #2 or tied for #2 among the Big 4 nets in 18-49 for each of the last eight weeks in a row (including Olympic weeks), up from finishes of #4 or tied for #3 among those nets for all eight of those weeks one year ago.

Through the season's 27th week, NBC has won 75 nights in adults 18-49 among the Big 4 networks, more NBC nightlong wins than for any full September-to-May season since 2003-04 (83 wins).

The Monday edition of "The Voice" ranked #1 among the week's Primetime programs on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, while Tuesday's "Voice" finished #5 and Monday's "The Blacklist" tied for #7.

Between them, the two editions of "The Voice" accounted for the #1 rating of the week on the Big 4 in adults and women 18-49, adults and women 25-54, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

Through 27 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie), all key adult-female demos and other key measures. It's the first time NBC has ranked #1 in 18-49 this late in the season in 10 years (since the 2003-04 season).

NBC's 2.9 rating in adults 18-49 is the network's top average at this point in the season in four years (since a 2.9 in 2009-10).

Versus one year ago, NBC is up 21% season to date in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.4).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.9 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 27 weeks into the season in eight years (since 2005-06, 9.9 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 39% season to date in total viewers (9.9 million vs. 7.1 million). This is NBC's highest total-viewer ranking at this point in the season in 10 years (since ranking #2 in 2003-04).

Primetime averages for the week of March 24-30 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 2.1/6; ABC, 1.5/5; NBC, 1.5/4; Fox, 1.3/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 9.1 million; ABC, 6.3 million; NBC, 5.9 million; Fox, 4.1 million; and CW, 1.6 million.

Season-to-date averages are: NBC, 2.9/9; Fox, 2.6/8; CBS, 2.4/7; ABC, 2.1/6; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 10.8 million; NBC, 9,9 million; Fox, 7.8 million; ABC, 7.5 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of March 24-30:

Monday: NBC won Monday in 18-49 among the Big 4 networks in every key demo, led by the #1 show of the night, "The Voice," and the top-rated "Blacklist" since Feb.24. NBC's 18-49 margin for the night in 18-49 was 62% (3.4 vs. a 2.1 for #2 ABC).

"The Voice" (3.7 rating, 10 share in adults 18-49, 12.8 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET,) won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every key demo and led the slot in 18-49 by a 54% margin over CBS's second-place comedy block (with a 3.7 rating vs. a 2.4) by 61% over ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" (3.7 vs. 2.3) and by 164% over Fox's dramas (3.7 vs. 1.4).

"The Blacklist" (2.8/8 in adults 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) dominated its time period by a 56% margin in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 1.8 for ABC's #2 "Castle"). In fact, "The Blacklist" nearly matched the combined ratings in the time period of "Castle" and CBS's "Intelligence" (1.1). "The Blacklist" is also #1 in The Hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every other key measure. Week to week, "The Blacklist" as up 4% in adults 18-49 (to a 2.8 rating from a 2.7) to score its top rating since Feb. 24 and its second-best since Dec. 2.

L+3 Time-Shifting: In "live plus three day" Nielsens, "The Blacklist" grew by 1.74 rating points, its biggest L+3 increase since Nov. 11, to a 4.66 rating from a 2.82, a gain of 62%. In total viewers, The March 24 "Blacklist" grew by 5.279 million viewers (to 16.078 million from 10.799 million), its biggest increase since Jan. 27.

Tuesday: "The Voice 6" (3.4/11 in 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall from 8-9:01 p.m. ET) ranked #1 for the night in 18-49 and finished #1 in The Hour among the Big 4 nets by a 36% margin in adults 18-49 (3.4 vs. 2.5 or CBS's #2 "NCIS").

"About a Boy" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:31 p.m. ET) has remained in the 2.0-2.1 range in adults 18-49 for a third straight week, with this track of originals since the show's first telecast on Saturday, Feb. 22: 2.2, 2.5, 2.0, 2.1, 2.0. This week's "Boy" won the time period among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.

"Growing Up Fisher" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall from 9:31-10 p.m. ET) has remained in the 1.7-1.8 range in adults 18-49 for a third week in a row and this week's telecast finished within 0.2 of a point of the show's first Tuesday original. The "Fisher" track since that initial Tuesday first-run on Feb. 25 is: 1.9, 1.7, 1.8, 1.7. "Growing Up Fisher" retained 85% of its lead-in from "About a Boy" in adults 18-49 and its last three retentions have been a steady 85%, 86%, 85%.

An encore telecast of "Chicago Fire" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) topped ABC's original "Mind Games" in all key measures.

Wednesday: The NBC News Special "Prince Harry's South Pole Heroes" averaged a 0.8/3 in adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET; a rebroadcast "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" delivered a 0.9/2 in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET; and an encore telecast of "Chicago P.D." averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET. The 9 p.m. "SVU" encore built in rating from half-hour to half-hour in every key category, including a gain of 43% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.0 rating from a 0.7).

Thursday: Encores of "Hollywood Game Night" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET and 1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall at 9) earned the show's highest rating since a 9 p.m. original scored a 1.2 on Feb. 27. In total viewers, the 8 p.m. encore delivered the show's top Thursday result since the series debut averaged 4.3 million on July 11, 2013. This week's 9 p.m. rebroadcast jumped 22% versus the prior week in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 0.9) and grew by 29% in total viewers (3.7 million from 2.9 million).

"Parenthood" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew for a second week in a row in adults 18-49 to achieve its highest rating since Oct. 3, nearly six months ago, during the season's second week. In total viewers, "Parenthood's" 4.4 million is the show's biggest overall audience since its season premiere on Sept. 26. This is the fourth week in a row "Parenthood" has grown in total viewers. "Parenthood" was up versus the prior week by 8% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.3) and up 17% versus two weeks ago (1.4 vs. 1.2). In total viewers, "Parenthood" was up versus one week earlier by 4% (4.4 million vs. 4.2 million), while up versus two weeks earlier by 14%, up versus three weeks earlier by 16% and up versus four weeks earlier by 22%. L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Parenthood" grew in L+3 by 60% or 0.75 of a rating point in 18-49 (to a 2.01 from a 1.26) and by more than 1.8 million viewers overall (to 6.1 million from 4.2 million).

Friday: "Dateline NBC" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) generated its biggest total-viewer result for a Friday edition in three years (since averaging 8.2 million on March 25, 2011). In adults 18-49, "Dateline" grew 7% week to week to a three-week high and equaled its highest Friday rating in 15 months, since Dec. 28, 2012. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 42% in adults 18-49 and 34% or 2.3 million persons in total viewers (9.2 million vs. 6.9 million). In the time period, "Dateline" was the #1 non-sports choice in the slot among ABC, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Dateline NBC" was Friday's #1 non-sports Primetime telecast in adults 18-49 and total viewers.

"Hannibal" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) grew 11% week to week in 18-49 (to a 1.0 from a 0.9) to earn its best rating since the Feb. 28 season premiere did a 1.1. In total viewers, "Hannibal" is up week to week by 30% (3.5 million vs. 2.7 million), for a season high and best "Hannibal" since the show's third episode ever, on April 18, 2013, averaged 3.507 million. "Hannibal" has now held steady or grown week to week in adults 18-49 for three weeks in a row. L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Hannibal" grew by 58% going from its next-day L+SD rating to L+3 (to a 1.36 from a 0.86).

Saturday: NBC finished #1 among the Big 4 networks in Primetime Saturday night in adults 18-49 and total viewers and ranked #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in all other key measures.

"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" grew by 50% in 18-49 rating (to a 0.9 from a 0.6). In its four weeks on the schedule, "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" has generated NBC's four top total-viewer results in the time period, excluding sports, in more than two years (since Jan. 21, 2012).

A rebroadcast of "Saturday Night Live" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET), with host Lena Dunham and musical guest The National, ranked #2 in The Hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and #1 among men 18-49 and men 25-54.

Sunday: An encore telecast of "The Voice" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) held steady or grew half-hour to half-hour in every key demographic.

"American Dream Builders" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) retained 89% of the prior week's debut 0.9 rating and built on this week's lead-in by 33%. "American Dream Builders" maintained or increased in rating from half-hour to half-hour in all key measures.

"Believe" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by 38% in 18-49 and 57% in total viewers in a highly competitive time period that includes ABC's "Resurrection," Fox's "Cosmos," CBS's "The Good Wife" and AMC's "Walking Dead." L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Believe" grew in L+3 by 64% or 0.77 of a rating point in 18-49 (to a 1.97 from a 1.20).

"Crisis" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) retained 100% of its lead-in from "Believe" in adults 18-49. In total viewers, "Believe" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 5% (to 4.5 million from 4.2 million), despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Crisis" grew in L+3 by 47% or 0.61 of a rating point in 18-49 (to a 1.90 from a 1.29).
