NBC's PARKS AND REC Grows Week-to-Week in Key Demos

NBC has averaged a 1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall for the week of Feb. 16-22, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

With 25 of 28 nights of Nielsen's February sweep now completed, NBC is poised to win the period in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures, led by its coverage of the Feb. 1 SUPER BOWL (the most-watched telecast in U.S. television history with an average audience of 114.4 million) and the Feb. 15 "Saturday Night Live 40thAnniversary Special" (the most-watched "SNL" telecast in 22 years with an average audience of 23.1 million, L+SD).

"Live plus same day" averages for the February sweep through 25 of the 28 nights for the Jan. 29-Feb. 25 period are, in adults 18-49: NBC, a 3.2 rating; ABC, 2.0; CBS, 1.7; Fox, 1.4; and CW, 0.7. In overall total viewers, the 25-night sweep averages are: NBC, 10.7 million; CBS, 9.5 million; ABC, 7.2 million; Fox, 4.4 million; and CW, 1.7 million.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 10% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (9.4 million vs. 10.5 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of Feb. 16-22 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 3.0/9; Fox, 1.5/5; CBS, 1.5/4; NBC, 1.2/4; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: ABC, 10.6 million; CBS, 8.8 million; NBC, 4.8 million; Fox, 4.6 million; and CW, 1.8 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.7/9; CBS, 2.4/8; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.1/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.6 million; NBC, 9.4 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.1 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Feb. 16-22:

Monday

The season finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (1.7 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) grew +21% versus the prior week's original in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.4) and was up +22% in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.0 million). Versus the prior cycle's finale, "The Celebrity Apprentice" increased by +13% in adult 18-49 rating (1.7 vs. 1.5 from 9-11 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 19, 2013) and was up +15% in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.3 million). In addition to outscoring the prior cycle's finale, this week's "Celebrity Apprentice" topped all 12 telecasts of that prior cycle in total viewers.

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Celebrity Apprentice" grew by +21% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 1.66 rating to a 2.01) and by 843,000 viewers overall (from 6.1 million to 6.9 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: Season to date, first-run editions of "The Celebrity Apprentice" are increasing in L+7 vs. L+SD by +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.98 rating to a 2.47) and 1.3 million viewers overall (from 6.5 million to 7.8 million).

"State of Affairs" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) matched the prior week's 18-49 rating (1.0 vs. 1.0) and grew by +11% week to week in total viewers (4.5 million vs. 4.0 million). This week's "State of Affairs" maintained its full 18-49 rating from half-hour to half-hour (1.0 vs. 1.0), despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+3: This week's "State of Affairs" grew by +56% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.97 to 1.52). In total viewers, "State of Affairs grew by more than 2.0 million persons (from 4.5 million to 6.5 million). L+7: "State of Affairs" has increased by +52% in 18-49 (from a 1.30 rating to a 1.97) and 2.8 million viewers overall (from 5.4 million to 8.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "State of Affairs" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 139 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current" including L+3).

Tuesday

"Parks and Recreation" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) grew +9% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 1.1) to match its top 18-49 score since Jan. 27. The 8 p.m. "Parks" was up +20% versus what the show was averaging at the end of last season in adults 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.0 with its final four episodes on Thursday nights last April). L+3: "Parks" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +30% in 18-49 rating (1.17 to 1.51) and 567,000 persons (2.9 million to 3.5 million). L+7: "Parks" has increased by +38% in 18-49 (from a 1.38 rating to a 1.91) and 868,000 viewers overall (3.6 million to 4.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Parks" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 149 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes with its 8 p.m. edition and 152 at 8:30 (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current").

A second telecast of "Parks and Recreation" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m. ET) grew +10% week to week in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.0). L+3: The 8:30 "Parks" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +40% in 18-49 rating (1.09 to 1.52) and 715,000 persons (2.5 million to 3.2 million). L+7: The 8:30 "Parks" has grown by +37% in 18-49 (from a 1.39 rating to a 1.90) and 914,000 viewers overall (3.2 million to 4.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Marry Me"(0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the previous week's 0.8 in 18-49 to match its highest 18-49 rating to date with no "Voice" lead-in (equaling its high since Dec. 9, 1.2). L+3: "Marry Me" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +18% in 18-49 rating (0.78 to 0.92) and in total viewers by 225,000 persons (2.1 million to 2.3 million). L+7: "Marry Me" is increasing by an average +23% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.25 to a 1.54) and 624,000 viewers overall (4.1 million to 4.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Marry Me'" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 133 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current").

"About a Boy" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 88% of its adult 18-49 lead-in and held 100% in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 1.0), while building by +16% in total viewers (2.4 million vs. 2.1 million). L+3: "About a Boy" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +42% in 18-49 rating (0.69 to 0.98) and in total viewers by 808,000 persons (2.4 million to 3.2 million). L+7: "About a Boy" originals are increasing by an average +36% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.07 to a 1.45) and 1.1 million viewers overall (3.7 million to 4.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the prior week's 1.4 rating in 18-49 and grew by +13% week to week in adults 18-34 (0.9 vs. 0.8). In the time period, "Chicago Fire" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 (0.9) and women 18-34 (1.1). L+3: "Chicago Fire" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +66% in 18-49 rating (1.38 to 2.29) and in total viewers by more than 2.8 million (6.3 million to 9.1 million). L+7: "Chicago Fire" first-runs have increased by an average +58% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.92 to a 3.04) and 3.5 million viewers overall (7.6 million to 11.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

"The Mysteries of Laura" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +11% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 1.0) to earn its top rating since Jan. 7 (1.3). L+3: "Laura" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +35% in 18-49 rating (1.10 to 1.48) and in total viewers by more than 1.3 million persons (5.9 million to 7.2 million). The 18-49 gain of 0.38 of a point is a series record for "Laura." L+7: "The Mysteries of Laura" originals are growing by +31% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.34 to a 1.75) and 1.8 million viewers overall (8.2 million to 10.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Law & Order: SVU" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew +14% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.4) and by +5% in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 6.1 million). It was the show's highest 18-49 rating since Jan. 7 (1.7) and biggest overall audience since Jan. 21 (6.8 million). L+3: "SVU" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +49% in 18-49 rating (1.57 to 2.34) and in total viewers by 2.1 million persons (6.4 million to 8.5 million). L+7: "SVU" originals this season are increasing by an average of +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.68 a 2.84) and more than 2.9 million viewers overall (7.6 million to 10.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (1.7/5 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) jumped +21% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.7 vs. 1.4) to capture its highest rating since the Nov. 22 triple crossover (2.2). Excluding the Nov. 22 crossover, this is the top-rated "Chicago P.D." since premiere week (1.9 on Sept. 24). In the time period, "Chicago P.D." ranked #1 among the ABC-CBS-NBC dramas in every key measure. "Chicago P.D." has now finished #1 or tied for #1 in the slot among the ABC-CBS-NBC dramas in adults 18-49 with eight of its last nine originals. "Chicago P.D." built on its 18-49 lead-in by +6%, marking the sixth time in its last seven opportunities "Chicago P.D." has maintained or built on a lead-in from an original "SVU." L+3: "Chicago P.D." grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +47% in 18-49 rating (1.67 to 2.46) and in total viewers by more than 2.5 million persons (7.1 million to 9.6 million). L+7: "Chicago P.D." originals are growing by an average of +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.61 to a 2.72) and more than 3.3 million viewers overall (7.2 million to 10.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"The Slap" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained its 18-49 rating from half-hour to half-hour (0.8 vs. 0.8). L+3: The prior week's "Slap" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +31% in 18-49 rating (1.11 to 1.45) and in total viewers by more than 1.2 million persons (5.1 million to 6.4 million).Upscale: "The Slap" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 120 in L+SD last week for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"The Blacklist" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the prior week's adult 18-49 rating, despite special competition last night from the "Two and a Half Men" series finale and built by +113% on its 18-49 lead-in. "The Blacklist" increased by +70% versus NBC's 18-49 season average in the time period prior to "Blacklist" (1.7 vs. 1.0, L+SD non-sports) and is up +109% versus NBC's total-viewer season average in the hour (7.713 million vs. 3.689 million).

L+3: The prior week's "Blacklist" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by a series-record +85% in 18-49 rating (1.72 to 3.18) and in total viewers by 4.9 million persons (8.2 million to 13.1 million). The prior week's "Blacklist" jumped from #7 for the night to #1 in total viewers going from L+SD (8.2 million) to L+3 (13.1 million). L+7: This season, originals of "The Blacklist" are increasing by an average of +58% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.23 to a 5.10) and 6.0 million viewers overall (11.7 million to 17.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Blacklist" was the previous week's most upscale Thursday primetime telecast on the Big 4 in L+SD, indexing at a 134 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"Allegiance" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) jumped by +29% or 0.2 of a rating point from week to week in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.7). L+3: The previous week's "Allegiance" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +45% in 18-49 rating (0.75 to 1.09) and in total viewers by more than 1.5 million persons (3.7 million to 5.2 million). L+7: "Allegiance" originals have grown by an average of +57% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.07 to a 1.68) and 2.5 million viewers overall (5.0 million to 7.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Allegiance" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 134 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current" including L+3).

Friday

NBC tied for the nightlong win in adults 18-49, as an encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live 40thAnniversary Special" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) delivered NBC's top-rated Friday night in adults 18-49, excluding sports, since Oct. 25, 2013 (1.6 with fall premieres of "Grimm" and "Dracula") and most-watched Friday since Dec. 26, 2014 (5.3 million for "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" and "Dateline NBC"). The 1.6 in 18-49 equaled NBC's top Friday, excluding live news and sports, in four years, since Feb. 4, 2011 ("Who Do You Think You Are" and "Dateline," 1.7).

Saturday

NBC won Saturday primetime among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers with "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" and "SNL Vintage" tying as the #1 show of the night on those nets in 18-49.

"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) delivered its second-highest total-viewer result to date among 28 telecasts this season and last (behind only its Feb. 7, 2015 edition, 5.8 million). "Dateline Mystery" ranked as the #1 primetime telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in total viewers, adults 25-54 and other key demos and tied with "SNL Vintage" for #1 in adults 18-49.

"SNL Vintage" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the Dec. 13, 1975 telecast of "Saturday night Live" with host Richard Pryor and musical guest Gil Scott-Heron), delivered a season high in total viewers for these 10 p.m. "SNL" rebroadcasts. It was also the most-watched among 55 "SNL" Saturday 10 p.m. encores over the past three seasons. In adults 18-49 "SNL Vintage" matched its season high and equaled the top rating for a Saturday 10 p.m. ET "SNL" encore since Feb. 1, 2014 (with host Jonah Hill and musical guest Bastille, 1.2).

Sunday

On the night of ABC's "Academy Awards" coverage, a rebroadcast of "Dateline NBC" delivered a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET; an encore telecast of "Chicago Fire" averaged a 0.4/1 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET; a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 0.5/1 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET; and an encore "Chicago P.D." delivered a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET. Despite the 10 p.m. hour, the "Chicago P.D." rebroadcast grew half-hour to half-hour by 0.1 of a point or +17% in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.7), +13% in adults 25-54 (0.8 to 0.9) and +22% in women 25-54 (0.9 to 1.1).
