NBCUniversal Names Jennifer Karie VP, Business Affairs

Jennifer Karie has been named Vice President, Business Affairs, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, it was announced today by Robert Fitzpatrick, EVP, Business Affairs, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution. Karie will continue to report to Inge Van Herle, SVP, Business Affairs, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.

Karie's promotion to Vice President recognizes her substantial contribution to the division particularly by taking on primary business affairs related responsibilities for the Division's advertising sales group as well as increased supervisory responsibilities for NBCU's first-run talk shows. Jennifer also will continue to manage contractual negotiations for first-run Syndicated programs and development projects and will continue to advise our programming, sales, advertising sales, branded entertainment, marketing and digital teams on rights, regulatory and contractual matters.

"Jennifer took it upon herself to create a business affairs specialty within the department to address the growing complexity and volume of advertising sales issues for the division, especially in the brand integration area. And with the continued expansion of our first run show roster, Jen has provided invaluable guidance, training and mentoring to our more junior staff members," said Fitzpatrick.

"I am excited to take on more responsibility in my new, expanded role," says Karie. "It is a privilege to be able to continue working with Rob, Inge and the rest of the team at NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution."

Karie joined NBCUniversal in 2006 as Director of Business Affairs. As Director, Karie handled various aspects of business affairs for first-run Syndicated programs and development projects. Most recently, Karie has worked on negotiations and contracts for the "The Meredith Vieira Show," which premieres in national syndication in the fall of 2014.

Before NBCUniversal, from 2001 to 2005, Karie worked at Goldring, Hertz & Lichtenstein, LLP. As an Associate, Karie's focus was on legal matters pertaining to the entertainment industry. She negotiated and agreements relating to music, television, film and fashion. She also supervised outside counsel regarding related trademark and litigation issues.

In 2000, Karie began her career at FOX Lax Group, PC. Karie negotiated and drafted talent services and various other agreements relating to music, television, and motion picture industries.

Karie holds a J.D. from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law with a focus on Intellectual Property and received her B.A. in Public Policy and Management from USC. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
