NBC4 Southern California Heads To South Korea To Cover 2018 Winter Games

As the networks of NBCUniversal prepare to go live for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, NBC4 announced today that it is sending its own news crew to The PyeongChang Games in South Korea. NBC4 Reporter Hetty Chang, who reports breaking news and hard news for the NBC4 News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m., will cover every angle on local athletes live on NBC4 from February 8 - 25.

"The 2018 Olympic Winter Games includes 15 Southern California athletes that are expected to be among the most exciting to watch, and NBC4 will be there to deliver those exclusive stories to our viewers here at home," said Todd Mokhtari, Vice President of News. "We look forward to reporting powerful, emotional stories and all the dramatic moments across multiple platforms for 18 consecutive days."

Chang has traveled throughout California from Mammoth to San Jose covering key competitions and athletes as they qualified for the 2018 U.S. Olympic Team. Her journey continues to South Korea, where she will bring viewers closer to the action, reporting live daily on NBC4 Today in LA from 4 - 7 a.m. and the NBC4 News at 4 p.m. and 11 p.m.

A native of Southern California, Chang grew up in Cerritos and is a graduate of UCLA. She is Chinese American and speaks Mandarin fluently. As an Emmy Award-winning journalist, Chang has been with NBC4 since 2013.

In addition, "The Olympic Zone" a 30-minute show hosted by NBC4 Sports Anchor Fred Roggin that highlights local athletes, will air Monday through Saturday on NBC4 at 4:30 p.m. PST from February 8-24. He will also report "4 Olympic Athletes to Watch" daily on Today in LA and "4 Olympic Moments to Watch" on the NBC4 News at 4 p.m. Roggin, who has covered the games since 1984, will also host CURLING on CNBC from the NBC Sports Group's International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn.

Nationally, NBCUniversal will present more than 2,400 hours of coverage across its networks and digital platforms. NBC's coverage begins in primetime on Thursday, February 8, at 8:00 p.m. ET, with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 9, and continuing until the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, February 25. For the first time for the Winter Games, NBC will present Olympic primetime coverage live across all time zones.
