NBC Sports to Televise 2017 HONDA NHL ALL-STAR GAME, 1/29

NBC will broadcast live coverage of the 2017 HONDA NHL ALL-STAR GAME from Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday, Jan. 29. Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET. This is the first network-television broadcast of the NHL ALL-STAR GAME since 2004. The game was originally scheduled to be televised on NBCSN.

This is the third NHL ALL-STAR GAME to be played in Los Angeles, home to the Kings, who are celebrating their 50th season in the league. Last season's NHL All-Star Game, which took place in Nashville, Tenn., and was televised on NBCSN, was the network's most-watched All-Star Game since NHL broadcast rights were acquired prior to the 2005-06 season.

"As the NHL celebrates its Centennial, we're excited to bring the pace and energy of the NHL ALL-STAR GAME to a network-television audience for the first time in more than a decade," said Sam Flood, Executive Producer, NBC Sports and NBCSN. "This move, combined with the addition of games featuring rising young stars like Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid, as well as our upcoming 'Star Sunday' matchups, continues to illustrate our commitment to showcase the best talent in the NHL and grow the game of hockey in America."

This is the first time NBC will televise the NHL ALL-STAR GAME since the 1994 matchup between the Eastern and Western Conferences at Madison Square Garden in New York. NBC televised the NHL ALL-STAR GAME from 1990-1994. The 1990 All-Star Game on NBC was the first-ever U.S. national television broadcast to feature NHL superstars Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

NBCSN has added an NHL game to its schedule that will feature two of the league's top young superstars, when 2016 No.1 overall pick Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs visit 2015 No. 1 overall pick Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow night. NBCSN will join Maple Leafs-Oilers in progress (circa 10 p.m. ET) immediately following originally-scheduled coverage of Bruins-Flyers at 7:30 p.m. ET.

This is the second game this season that NBCSN has added to its original schedule of a record 106 NHL regular-season games. Following Auston Matthews' four-goal outburst in his NHL debut, NBCSN added the Maple Leafs' home opener against Boston on Oct. 15.
