NBC Sports to Present Flyers-Penquins NHL Stadium Series Game, 2/25

The 2017 NHL Stadium Series features a bitter in-state rivalry this Saturday at Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins host Wayne Simmonds and the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

The NHL Game of the Week on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC features Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins against Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars, as veteran NHL commentator and long-time NHL on NBC play-by-play voice Dave Strader returns to the NBC booth to call the action.

This week's coverage also features a Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup pitting Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals against the Flyers on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

In addition, the Chicago Blackhawks will make three appearances on NBCSN this week, beginning tonight when they visit Zach Parise and the Minnesota Wild at 8 p.m. ET. Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks will host Oliver Ekman-Larsson and the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, and welcome Vladimir Tarasenko and the rival St. Louis Blues to United Center on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

2017 NHL STADIUM SERIES - FLYERS-PENGUINS - SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBC

Philadelphia (28-24-7, 63 pts) is currently three points behind Boston for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, and is coming off a 3-2 win against Vancouver. Both of the Flyers' games this week will be national telecasts, beginning with their clash against the Capitals on Wednesday Night Rivalry on NBCSN. Wayne Simmonds leads the club with 25 goals.

Pittsburgh (36-14-8, 80 pts) is five points behind Washington for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, and suffered just its fourth regulation home loss on Sunday to Detroit on NBC by a score of 5-2. Sidney Crosby leads the league in goals (32) and is second in the league in points (65), two behind Connor McDavid. This is just the second matchup between the in-state rivals this season. The Penguins beat the Flyers 5-4 on Oct. 29 in Philadelphia, as Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each scored twice.

Four-time Emmy Award-winner Mike 'Doc' Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass analyst) will have the call of Flyers-Penguins from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The NHL on NBC studio team of Liam McHugh (host) and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones, and Jeremy Roenick will anchor pre-game and intermission coverage on-site from Heinz Field.

DAVE STRADER RETURNS TO NHL ON NBC BROADCAST BOOTH TO CALL BRUINS-STARS NHL GAME OF THE WEEK THIS SUNDAY AT 12:30 P.M. ET ON NBC

Veteran NHL commentator and long-time NHL on NBC play-by-play voice Dave Strader will call NBC Sports' NHL Game of the Week, featuring the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

In June 2016, Strader revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), which has prevented him from calling games for the Stars this season. Strader's treatment schedule has allowed him to return to the Stars' booth for their current five-game homestand, which began Saturday against Tampa Bay.

"Dave Strader has been a wonderful friend and NHL on NBC teammate for more than a decade," said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. "We're thrilled to have Dave lead our game broadcast in Dallas on Sunday, and join the Dallas Stars and Hockey Fights Cancer in providing a national platform to raise awareness for the battle against cancer."

A member of the NHL on NBC family since 2005, Strader will be joined in the booth by his Stars broadcast partner Daryl Reaugh, as well as 'Inside-the-Glass' analyst Andy Brickley.

Boston (30-23-6, 66 pts) holds the second Wild Card spot in the East, and has won four straight games under interim head coach Bruce Cassidy. The Bruins defeated the Sharks 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, as Brad Marchand scored his 25th goal of the year in the extra session.

Dallas (23-27-10, 56 pts) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 4-3 in overtime in Strader's return to the booth last Saturday. Antoine Roussel notched his first career hat trick, and Jamie Benn scored the overtime game-winner.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY - CAPITALS-FLYERS - WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Capitals (39-12-7, 85 pts) boast the most points in the NHL, but look to rebound from a 2-1 loss to the Rangers on NBC last Sunday. Alex Ovechkin scored his team-leading 27th goal of the year in the loss. Nicklas BACKSTROM ranks second in the league in assists (44) and fourth in points (61). In their last matchup, Justin Williams and Matt Niskanen each scored twice in a 5-0 win over the Flyers.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play), Olczyk, and McGuire will have the call of Capitals-Flyers from the Wells FARGO Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

BLACKHAWKS-WILD - TONIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Blackhawks (36-18-5, 77 pts) are seven points behind the first-place Wild in the Central Division. Chicago defeated Buffalo 5-1 on Hockey Day in America on NBCSN on Sunday, as Scott Darling made 25 saves and Patrick Kane added a goal and an assist. Chicago ended an eight-game regular-season losing streak to Minnesota on Feb. 8, when Jonathan Toews scored in overtime to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 win.

Minnesota leads the Western Conference with 84 points (39-13-6), one behind Washington for the top spot in the league. The Wild are coming off a 5-2 victory over NASHVILLE on Saturday, as Jason Zucker scored twice in the victory for Minnesota. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk leads the NHL in wins (32), save percentage (.934), and goals-against average (1.97).

Jim Jackson (play-by-play) and Brian Boucher ('Inside-the-Glass') will call Blackhawks-Wild from Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

COYOTES-BLACKHAWKS - THURSDAY AT 8:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Arizona (23-27-10, 56 pts) has gone 8-4-1 in its last 13 games, including victories over Anaheim, San Jose, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles. Radim Vrbata leads the club with 41 points, and rookie Christian Dvorak has posted nine points (6g/3a) in his last nine games. The Blackhawks have won both of their previous matchups against the Coyotes this season.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Boucher will call the game from United Center in Chicago, Ill.

BLUES-BLACKHAWKS - SUNDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

St. Louis (31-24-5) sits third in the Central Division behind Minnesota and Chicago. The Blues have lost their last two games, but are 7-3-0 in their last 10 overall, and have not lost on the road in the month of February (6-0-0). Vladimir Tarasenko is tied for third in the NHL in goals (28). This marks the last of five meetings between St. Louis and Chicago in the regular season - each team has won twice.
