NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT Is #1 Most Watched Season-to-Date in Key Demo Again

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is the #1 most-watched evening broadcast in the key news demo for the week of August 6, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Nightly News continues as the #1 most-watched evening newscast season-to-date in the key demo, and has finished #1 in the key demo 5 out of the last 6 weeks.

The broadcast continues its strong performance in the key demo, growing week-over-week and averaging 1.6 million A25-54 viewers. The broadcast bested ABC WORLD NEWS Tonight by +78,000 viewers (+5%) and CBS EVENING NEWS by 523,000 viewers (+49%).

Last week, Holt interviewed Spike Lee and Ron Stallworth, the black police officer who infiltrated the KKK and inspired Lee's new movie "BLACKkKLANSMAN." Stallworth told Holt that former KKK grand wizard David Duke called him the day before concerned about his portrayal in the film. This week, Holt will sit down with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to talk free speech and making social media a safer place.

For the week of August 6, Nightly News is also the most-watched broadcast among A18-49 viewers, averaging 1.1 million and topping ABC by +34,000 viewers (+3%) and CBS by +334,000 viewers (+45%).

7.3 million total viewers tuned in to Nightly News for the week of August 6, leading CBS EVENING NEWS by 1.8 million total viewers (+33%).

For the week of August 6, Nightly News rated for four nights (August 6, 7, 8, and 10) due to NFL pre-season football.
