NBC NIGHTLY NEWS Earns Record High Ratings
Seeing over 9 million total viewers for six weeks in a row, "NBC Nightly News with BrIan Williams" heads into the final weeks of 2010 as America's number one evening newscast. According to Nielsen Media Research data, more than 9.6 million Americans tuned in to "Nightly" for the week ending December 19, 2010, as the NBC broadcast delivered +1.383 million more than ABC "World News,'" 8.275 million and +3.441 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 6.217 million. "Nightly" has won for 66 consecutive weeks, and in 113 of the past 114 weeks in total viewers. On Monday night, "Nightly" delivered over 10.8 million total viewers-its biggest single day delivery since Nov. 26, 2010. "Nightly" has now topped ABC "World News" by over 1 million viewers for seven consecutive weeks. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +1,137,000 total viewers.
For the week, "Nightly" also led in the key demo adults 25-54. "Nightly" delivered a 2.2 rating A25-54, ahead of "World News'" 1.9 and "Evening News'" 1.5. On Monday, "Nightly" delivered a 2.6 A25-54 rating, its best single day delivery since Nov. 8, 2010. With 2.767 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, "Nightly" beat "World News" by +441,000 viewers. This is the 108th consecutive week "Nightly" has topped "World News" in A25-54 (000). Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +415,000 A25-54 viewers. As the number one network broadcast last week, "Nightly" delivered a 6.3/12 Household rating, with "World News" in second place with a 5.4/10, and "Evening News" in third with a 4.1/8. Versus the fourth quarter 2010-to-date average, "Nightly" increased in homes (+13%) and total viewers (+12% or +1,070,000). On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with BrIan Williams" continued its strong performance with 4 million online streams for the week ending December 18, 2010.
