According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC's aborted remake of the 1960's TV classic THE MUNSTERS, featuring Broadway's Jerry O'Connell and Cheyenne Jackson, will now air as a Halloween special on the network.

The special is an attempt by NBC to salvage the $10 million already invested in a planned TV series. The series, which was to be titled 'Mockingbird Lane,' had been in development at the network for the last two years. The newly reincarnated holiday version will air on Friday, October 26 at 8 p.m. before 'Grimm.'

'Mockingbird Lane was to follow "a Frankenstein-ish dad and his monstrous relatives" and was based on the original series which aired in the early '60's. The cast included Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster, PORTIA DE ROSSI as Lily Munster and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. Cheyenne Jackson was slated to be featured as well. The Bryan Singer-helmed reboot was to be written and produced the project helmed by Bryan Fuller.

NBC has not commented on the story.
