Michael Ironside Joins Armand Assante & More at 2018 Philip K. Dick Sci-Fi Film Festival

The 2018 Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival has added to its celebrity participants at the sixth annual event. Internationally renowned actor Michael Ironside joins THE LINEUP of previously announced guests Armand Assante, Charles Baker, Vincent Pastore, Tom Sizemore, Melvin Van Peebles and Chuck Zito. In addition, distinguished researcher Dr. Dennis McKenna, whose studies broke new ground in the field of ethnopharmacology, will be on hand for a discussion about psychedelic medicine after the showing of director Sarah Hutt's documentary The Shaman and the Scientist. Screening in the boroughs of Manhattan and Queens, the festival will present a full slate of films, exclusive premieres, panel discussions and virtual reality installations from February 23-25, 2018.

"Michael Ironside represents a long tradition in Hollywood of strong and tough characters," said Daniel Abella, the founder and director of the festival. "His career is extremely prolific, especially in Total Recall based on Philip K. Dick's story, so his presence at the festival is very appropriate."

An informative conversation will be held with Dr. Dennis McKenna whose work shown in The Shaman and the Scientist is highly regarded by the festival. "Dr. McKenna represents the scientist and the objective of searching for knowledge and wisdom," said Abella. "The film is a deep exploration of substances found in the Peruvian rainforest that have potential use in the treatment of mental illness. In life, Philip K. Dick became very concerned with the ecological imbalance impacting the planet and that was represented in his stories, making Dr. McKenna an important addition to our event."
