At a screening party held last night for the cast and crew of AMC's MAD MEN, show creator Matt Weiner spoke to Showbiz411's Leah Sydney about the themes of the highly anticipated 6th season.

"A character says that, 'People will do anything to alleviate anxiety.' That's the theme of the season, and I feel that, that more than ever, and it's luck too, that the vibe of the show seems very much on what is going right now as a country," he commented. "I wasn't even born in 1960-whatever, so I write about now, and that's what I'm feeling right now."

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.

Created by Emmy and Golden Globe winning executive producer Matthew Weiner the award-winning ensemble cast includes Golden Globe winner Jon Hamm, January Jones,Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, JarEd Harris, Jessica Paré, Rich Sommer, Aaron Staton, Robert Morse, Kiernan Shipka, Jay Ferguson, and Christopher Stanley.

"Mad Men" premieres on AMC on April 7th.
