Linda Lavin Joins Sean Hayes' NBC Comedy Pilot

According to Deadline.com, Broadway veteran Linda Lavin will co-star on Sean Hayes' new family comedy pilot for NBC written by Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted). Lavin will play Hayes' mother.

The project follows Sean (played by Hayes), who is facing a difficult new boss at work while trying to be a good father to his recently-moved-in, 14-year-old daughter. It is produced by Universal TV and Hazy Mills with executive producers Fresco, Hayes and Todd Milliner.

Linda Lavin won the Obie Award and was nominated for a Tony last season for her celebrated performance in the Broadway comedy THE LYONS, having previously earned raves as the alcoholic aunt in OTHER DESERT CITIES at Lincoln Center and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in FOLLIES, performing the show-stopping number "Broadway Baby." New York audiences have seen her in THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE (Tony nomination), GYPSY, THE DIARY OF Anne Frank (Tony nomination), COLLECTED STORIES (Tony nomination), BROADWAY BOUND (Tony Award for Best Actress), LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS (Tony nomination), and IT'S A BIRD...IT'S A PLANE...IT'S SUPERMAN. Audiences worldwide know her from her starring role for nine seasons on the TV series "Alice." She began her career in NYC nightclubs such as The Showplace and Downstairs at the Upstairs, and has recently returned to performing in concert halls and cabarets around the country.
