Keira Knightley Replaces Anne Hathaway in Indie Drama LAGGIES

Due to scheduling conflicts, recent Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway has exited Lynn Shelton's upcoming dark comedy LAGGIES, Variety reports. The kicker? Keira Knightley has signed on to replace her.

Knightley will join Chloe Moretz and Sam Rockwell for the project, taking on the role of 'Megan' described by Deadline as a "perpetual adolescent and late-twentysomething who, freaked out by her boyfriend's marriage proposal, pretends to go on a career retreat but actually hides out for a week with 16-year-old Annika (Moretz), her new best friend."

Mark Webber is in talks to take on the role of Megan's boyfriend while Rockwell will play an older character named Craig. The film was penned by Andrea Seigel. Steve Golin, Alix Madigan and Rosalie Swedlin are producing for Anonymous Content.

According to the report, Hathaway dropped out of LAGGIES in order to star in Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR, opposite Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain. Both films are scheduled to begin production next month.

She most recently appeared in the film adaptation of Anna Karenina. Her television credits include the critically acclaimed remake of Doctor Zhivago, Oliver and Coming Home.
