John Legend to Develop Series for Cable, Broadcast Networks

As first reported on Deadline.com, nine-time Grammy winner John Legend and his Get Lifted Film Company have signed a deal with Universal Cable Productions to develop series for both broadcast and cable networks.

Per the agreement, the singer-songwriter, along with his partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius, will work alongside of Universal Cable's development team which includes SVPs Richard Rothstein, Chris Sanagustin and Maira Suro. The team is responsible for the development of USA Network, Syfy and external networks.

Legend, who has never before worked in the television side of the entertainment industry, called the deal the “next step forward in building Get Lifted.” Legend's Get Lifted is one of several companies who have recently made deals wiith UCP including Hypnotic, Tagline, and  Valhalla Entertainment.

Legend hosted and executive produced a music special for Showtime and starred on the ABC summer reality series Duets. He will begin the North American leg of his tour this fall.
