While recent reports have indicated that Jessica Biel had been offered the role of 'Viper' in James Mangold's upcoming film, THE WOLVERINE, the actress has just gone on record to say that it was never a "done deal." The film is based on a comic book storyline written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

Collider now reports that negotiations between Biel and 20th Century Fox are no longer taking place and that the studio is currently exploring other actresses for the part. Filming on the movie is scheduled to begin next month. Hugh Jackman and Will Yun Lee are among the film's star-studded cast.

THE WOLVERINE is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2013.

Biel will soon be seen in Total Recall, co-starring Colin Farrell and Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man, coming out August 31. Biel portrayed Mary Camden in the long-running family-drama series 7th Heaven. She has since starred in many films including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Blade: Trinity (2004), I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007), The A-Team (2010), and New Year's Eve (2011).
