Idina Menzel to Return to GLEE in Episode Two, 9/27

Fox's hit television show GLEE will return Tuesday nights September 20, and Tony winner Idina Menzel will return to the show soon after! According to TVGuide.com, Menzel will return as Rachel's mom, Shelby Corcoran, in the second episode on September 27. Menzel's character, who will be a part of a multi-episode arc, will be a new teacher at McKinley High.

Additionally, the second episode is set to feature FUNNY GIRL's "I'm the Greatest Star," and WEST SIDE STORY's "Something's Coming."

During this season of GLEE, Lea Michele, Monteith and Colfer will begin their senior year. Although the stars will graduate from McKinley, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will leave the show.

To date over 33 million Glee songs have been digitally downloaded, with over 10 million albums sold worldwide. Glee scored three consecutive #1 releases with Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers, Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna and Glee: The Music, Journey To Regionals. The RIAA has certified Glee: The Music, Volume 1 Platinum (sales in excess of 1 million units) as well asGlee: The Music, Volume 2, Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers and Glee: The Music, Volume 4 Gold (sales in excess of 500,000 units).

Tony Award winner Idina Menzel has a diverse career on stage and in film, television, and music. In 2009 Ms. Menzel co- starred with Josh Groban in the concert version of Chess: The Musical, recorded at London's Royal Albert Hall and broadcast on PBS. In December 2005 she completed her role as the misunderstood Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked, for which she received a Tony Award for Lead Actress in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award nomination.

She reprised the role in London's West End in September 2006, receiving the Theatregoers Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also starred in Michael John LaChiusa's musical See What I Wanna See, directed byTed Sperling at The Public Theater, garnering Drama Desk and Drama League Award nominations. Other honors included a Tony nomination for her debut performance as Maureen in the original production of Rent, and a Drama Desk nomination for her performance as Kate in Manhattan Theater Club's Off-Broadway original musical, The Wild Party.
