HGTV Stars to Celebrate New Year's Day with Live All-Day Twitter Party
New Year's Day at HGTV will be filled with series premieres and the biggest social media event at the network yet: a live all-day Twitter party featuring many of the net's popular stars. Fans can join the Twitter party by using #HGTVNewYear to ask their favorite HGTV stars questions and get advice about everything from renovation and decorating to New Year's resolutions. They may even be surprised to find that their actual tweets appear live on air. The viewing and Twitter party begins at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET with Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott as they co-host HGTV's Rose Parade 2015 with Josh Temple, who will be on the ground offering unique street-side perspectives and spectator interviews. Throughout the day, other top network talent will join in the live social media campaign, including Chip and Joanna Gaines (Fixer Upper); Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri (America's Most Desperate Kitchens); Scott McGillivray (Income Property); JD Scott (Brother vs. Brother); Tarek and Christina El Moussa (Flip or Flop); Jen and Brandon Hatmaker (My Big Family Renovation); Chris and Peyton Lambton (Yard Crashers) and Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot (Love It or List It, Too). In addition, fans can log onto HGTV.com/newyear to check out Twitter and Instagram feeds from #HGTVNewYear, see a complete program guide for the day and connect with their favorite HGTV stars.
"Last year, our New Year's Day campaign was a social media success," said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV and DIY Network. "Fans loved live tweeting with their favorite HGTV and DIY Network stars, so we're giving them another fun opportunity to interact with our hosts all day long."
To anchor the social media campaign, HGTV will feature a full day of fantasy lifestyle series premieres, including "sneak peek" episodes of Castle Hunters, Half-Price Paradise, Living Big Sky, Island Life, Sharing Paradise and Building Hawaii. In addition, the network will premiere new episodes of such popular series as Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Caribbean Life, LAKEFRONT BARGAIN HUNT and Vacation House for Free.
"Our New Year's Day activities reflect what this holiday is all about: fun, relaxation, inspiration and resolution," said Page.
