Gil McKinney Cast as 'Prince Eric' on ABC's ONCE UPON A TIME

The Huffington Post reports that Gil McKinney has been cast as Prince Eric in the upcoming third season of ABC's ONCE UPON A TIME. The actor will star opposite JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who portrays mermaid Ariel on the series.

Eric and Ariel will first appear in the sixth episode of the new season, titled "Ariel." Giancarlo Esposito will reprise his role as the Magic Mirror in Season 3 of the hit ABC fairytale drama, while Sean Maguire takes over as Robin Hood for departing actor Tom Ellis

ABC will premiere a spin-off series, Neverland, which will focus on the storybook's Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. Both characters are expected to show up during the early episodes of the new season of "Once".

McKinney recently appeared on TV in the role of Sam and Dean Winchester's paternal grandfather on "Supernatural". He guest starred as and Julie Taylor's love interest in "Friday Night Lights". He recently completed a two-episode guest role on TNT's "Perception."

"Once Upon a Time" Season 3 premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
