TVGuide.com reports that Emmy winning actress Genie Francis will reprise her role as 'Laura Spencer' on the daytime sudser GENERAL HOSPITAL. According to EW, the actress will return February 11, just in time for the 50th Anniversary celebration of the series.

Francis' character was last seen in Port Charles in 2008, when she abandoned her three children. The actress told EW, "It's not for me to tell them how to run their show. But my biggest concern was that there had to be a good reason for me to stay away from my family."

General Hospital premiered on the ABC television network on April 1, 1963. Broadcast weekdays and currently repeated nightly on SOAPnet, it is the longest-running serial produced in Hollywood, and the longest-running entertainment program in ABC television history. It holds the record for most Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, with 11 wins.
