Fort Lauderdale Convention Honors Storytellers at Gotham Awards 11/27

The Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB's Film, Music, Fashion & Create division will be celebrating the filmmaking community at the 2017 IFP Gotham Awards at Cipriani Wall Street on November 27, 2017.

As a longstanding supporter of the arts, the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB's Film, Music, Fashion & Create division continues its proud partnership this year with The IFP Gotham Awards - one of the leading honors for independent film and media and supporting the non-profit arts organization, Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP).

Jason Blum, Sofia Coppola, Al Gore, Dustin Hoffmna, Nicole Kidman and Ed Lachman will be presented with tributes honoring their achievements in the industry. The Gotham Awards nominees for Best Actor include: Willem Dafoe in The Florida Project (A24), James Franco in The Disaster Artist (A24), Daniel Kaluuya in Get Out(Universal Pictures), Robert Pattinson in Good Time (A24), Adam Sandler in The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (Netflix), and HARRY Dean Stanton in Lucky(Magnolia Pictures). The Best Actress nominees are Melanie Lynskey in I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore (Netflix), Haley Lu Richardson in Columbus(Superlative Films/Depth of Field), Margot Robbie in I, Tonya (NEON), Saoirse Ronan in Lady Bird (A24) and Lois Smith in Marjorie Prime (FilmRise).

Since 2010, Greater Fort Lauderdale has hosted more than 800 productions including full-length features, TV series, telenovelas, documentaries, independent projects, commercials, music videos and still shoots. Along with the Film Music, Fashion & Create division's unparalleled production experience, the destination continues to offer a diverse selection of locales that are a perfect fit for filming projects.

When the Film, Music, Fashion & Create division was formed at the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB, the destination's industry incentives grew enormously. They have been able to generate $661 million in positive economic impact, which created 95,827 jobs from filming projects. Production benefits in Greater Fort Lauderdale also include a no-fee permit in Broward County, state tax breaks providing a maximum saving of $8 million, marketing support, dedicated film-friendly hotels, destination-related arrangements and a Preferred Production Pass (P3) that provides discounts at local hotspots and relevant vendors for cast and crew when filming in the destination.

Greater Fort Lauderdale is now one of the most primetime worthy destinations for television & film. Most notable features include appearances on Baywatch, A&E's The Glades, Bravo TV's Million Dollar Listing, Animal Planet's Gator Boys, Iron Man 3, Rock of Ages, USA's Graceland and Burn Notice, Starz's Magic City, ABC's Charlie's Angels, Telemundo's primetime telenovelas Marido en Alquiler (Husband for Hire) and Santa Diabla, among others.
